The Setup. The Hobby 750 FML is the flagship of the German-made Hobby motorhome range and part of the extensive 700 fixed-bed line-up. The 750FML is based on the long-wheelbase “Fiat Ducato”, as so many Motorhome are these days. This vehicle is powered by the excellent 2.8-litre JTD Fiat diesel turbo engine. It features an ALKO- AMC chassis with twin axles and is able to carry an impressively heavy payload of 1250kg! The 750 FML remains one of Hobby’s best-sellers and comes loaded with a plethora of standard features that help to make a touring holiday that much more comfortable and enjoyable. The layout features a fixed double bed on the rear near side corner with the washroom next door on the left rear corner. Moving up the offside of the caravan, we have the kitchen area, then the dinette which features a large dining table. The swivelling ‘captain’s’ cab chairs (adjustable every which way) add to the seating available. Opposite the dining area on the near side, you’ll find a comfortable sofa that can double as another spacious bed. The sofa on the offside offers most of the seating for dining although; the swivelling cab seats provide additional seating. This sofa can also be easily made-up into a single bed. First Impressions Look around the 750 and you’re struck by just how excellent the fit and finish of the exterior bodywork is. The curved aluminium sides bond well with the one-piece glass fibre roof. The Hobby is fitted with a roof rack with access ladder which can prove to be pretty useful at times. Step inside and you’ll be equally impressed by the finish of the Motorhome’s interior. The quality of workmanship by the fitters at the Hobby factory is exemplary. As the 750 model is based on the long-wheel base, internal space is not at a premium. In fact you’ll find acres of room to move around quite freely. Although quite long, the 750 is also a decent motorhome to drive, with a fair turn of speed provided by that 2.8 JTD engine, and surefooted handling, a well-known Ducato characteristic. Practicalities The fabrics used on the attractively-coloured, patterned seating and trim are very durable and the high-quality carpet is removable, which certainly helps when it comes to sweeping and cleaning the floor. Truma’s proven systems provide the water and interior space heating while the blown-air is an absolute “Gem”; fantastic on those cold nights or if you are into the “Winter Sports” a “Must Have”. All the utility points from the electric hook-up to the waste-water outlet are easily accessible too. Living Conditions The 750 FML is supremely comfortable. It could be said there’s not much to moan about. After-dark, the internal pelmet (mood) lighting is excellent with various spotlights around the motorhome and 3x Heki roof lights over the main living/ kitchen and bedroom areas, which can also add to the amount of ventilation of course. The outside awing is by Omnistar and provides excellent cover for sun and rain (hopefully not) Cooking, Sleeping and Washing The kitchen comes well equipped with a three-burner gas hob. The stainless-steel sink and gas hob can be covered by smoke-glass lids which offer more workspace. There’s no shortage of cupboard space and drawers. The large fridge swallows a great deal of foodstuff and includes a full-width freezer compartment - you’ll want for nothing in this kitchen, which is not just practical but extremely attractive too. The large rear fixed bed will offer you a decent and comfortable night’s sleep. As for the washroom, the FML has a ‘walkthrough’ washroom which offers a separate shower compartment.
